What makes an independent fitting different
Many hearing aid dispensers are tied to one or two manufacturers through commercial agreements. This can limit your options without you knowing. At Hear Care, we fit devices from Widex, Oticon, Starkey, GN ReSound, MED-EL, and other leading brands chosen based purely on what is right for you.
Every fitting includes real-ear measurement (REM), which verifies that the hearing aid is performing correctly in your actual ear canal not just on a factory default setting. Research consistently shows that REM-verified fittings lead to significantly better outcomes and higher satisfaction.

Modern hearing aids: what to expect
The hearing aids available today are a world apart from those of even five years ago. Rechargeable technology has replaced batteries for most styles. Bluetooth connectivity means streaming directly from your phone, TV adapter, or tablet. AI-powered sound processing adapts to your environment in real time.
Styles range from completely-in-canal (CIC) devices essentially invisible to receiver-in-canal (RIC) aids with directional microphones for complex listening environments. We will show you physical samples of each style and explain which is best suited to your hearing loss, dexterity, and preferences.

Common questions
Can I try a hearing aid before committing to buy?
Yes. Most devices are available on a trial basis, typically two to four weeks. This gives you the opportunity to wear the hearing aid in your real listening environments — at home, at work, in restaurants — before making a decision.
Does the PRSI Treatment Benefit cover hearing aids?
Yes. If you have sufficient PRSI contributions, the Treatment Benefit Scheme contributes up to €500 per device (€1,000 for a pair) once every four calendar years. We can check your eligibility and handle the paperwork.
How long does a hearing aid last?
With proper care, a hearing aid typically lasts five to seven years. We provide ongoing servicing, cleaning, and software updates throughout that time.
